About brand
NEMO Equipment is an American outdoor gear company founded in 2002 by Cam Brensinger, a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design who applied an industrial design background to solving problems in traditional camping gear. The company is headquartered in Dover, New Hampshire.
Since introducing its first line of backpacking and mountaineering tents in 2004, NEMO has grown into a full outdoor equipment brand, making tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, camp furniture, packs, and accessories for everything from ultralight backpacking to family car camping. The company has earned recognition over the years, including being named among the best inventions of the year by several major publications, along with design awards from organizations in the U.S. and Europe.
NEMO is known for rethinking familiar gear categories rather than just following industry standards. Examples include the Spoon-shaped sleeping bag (designed around how people actually sleep, not a straight mummy taper), the Stargaze reclining chair (which introduced a swinging, auto-reclining seat to camp furniture), and OSMO fabric (a recycled poly-nylon blend developed for tents with improved water repellency and reduced stretch when wet).
Sustainability plays a role in the brand’s product development, with a number of items built from recycled or bluesign-approved materials and packaging designed to be recyclable. All NEMO products come with a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
Today, NEMO gear is sold through outdoor retailers, its own website, and international distributors, serving backpackers, mountaineers, families, and casual campers alike.

FAQ
Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, camp furniture, packs, and outdoor accessories for backpacking, mountaineering, and car camping.
Yes, all NEMO gear is covered by a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
Most backpacking and car camping tents are freestanding, meaning they hold their shape without needing to be staked out. Some mountaineering models use external pole structures for added strength in extreme conditions.
A proprietary blend of recycled nylon and polyester used in many NEMO tents, chosen for its water resistance, reduced stretch when wet, and lower environmental footprint compared to standard tent fabrics.
Yes. Many products, like the Aurora car camping tents and Switchback foam pads, are simple and easy for first-time campers, while other lines suit more seasoned backpackers and mountaineers.
Inflatable pads, like the Tensor or Astro, pack smaller and offer more cushioning and higher R-values for warmth. Foam pads, like the Switchback, are heavier and bulkier but more puncture-resistant and require no inflation.
Set it up fully, wipe down the fabric and poles with a damp cloth (no harsh detergents), and let it air dry completely before storing loosely in a large bag rather than tightly packed in its stuff sack, which can damage the waterproof coating over time.
3-season tents are designed for spring through fall in moderate weather, while 4-season (mountaineering) tents use stronger fabrics and pole structures to handle winter conditions, high wind, and heavy snow load.

Testimonials
Real trips, real feedback — hear what campers and backpackers have to say about their gear.
I took the Dagger OSMO on a five-day trip through the Sierras and it held up through wind, rain, and one very cold night above 10,000 feet. Setup takes about three minutes even when I’m exhausted, and the extra space in the vestibule meant my pack stayed dry the whole trip. This is the first tent I’ve owned that I’d genuinely recommend to friends without any caveats.

My family’s been car camping for years, and the Aurora Highrise is the first tent that’s actually made mornings enjoyable. I can stand up fully to get dressed, both doors mean the kids aren’t climbing over each other to get out, and it stayed bone dry through a surprise thunderstorm. Setup is quick enough that I don’t dread it after a long drive.

I’ve gone through three sleeping pads over the years trying to find one that actually keeps me warm without feeling like a pool float. The Tensor Extreme finally solved it — I slept through a 15°F night in the Rockies and didn’t wake up once from the cold. It packs down small enough that I barely notice it in my bag either.
